Benecard is a privately held and independent corporation. Our primary allegiance is to our clients. Because Benecard has no interest in promoting a specific pharmaceutical manufacturer's product or a particular pharmacy chain, our preferred drug formulary has been developed strictly on the basis of providing therapeutically sound and cost-effective medications to cardmembers. We recognize that great savings is often afforded to our clients by encouraging the dispensing of lower-priced brand or generic equivalent drugs, when that option is available within the constraints of a client's plan design. We proactively manage programs to encourage both the patients and their physicians to use less costly, yet equally effective drug therapies. We believe our independence from pharmaceutical manufacturers ultimately leads to significant ingredient cost savings to our clients. Because we are independent, and our network is comprised of both chains and independent pharmacies, we are able to uniformly administrate our Wholesale Acquisition Price (WAC) pricing policy on a national basis. We do not direct plan participants to a single pharmacy chain or local network that controls pricing. This provides our client with optimal cost discounts and the highest quality of benefit to plan members.
