Founded by Hollywood veteran Eugene Buica, a passionate actor and teacher, The Acting Corps draws on the teachings of Michael Chekov and Sanford Meisner, among others. The conservatory offers hands-on, practical instruction to actors at diverse stages in their careers. According to Buica, who serves as the Artistic Director of the conservatory, actors are artists who must assume great creative responsibility. In his mission statement for The Acting Corps, Buica writes that choosing acting as a profession “is a choice based on a dream, an inexplicable desire to experience and express the human condition and to do all that in front of others.” In addition to nurturing creative drive, Buica offers curricula designed to impart pragmatic assistance, such as on-camera technique and personal branding.

At The Acting Corps, all classes are taught by experienced acting professionals who have active careers and who hold graduate degrees from well-respected MFA programs. Unlike many other acting schools in Los Angeles, The Acting Corps offers classes daily, rather than once or twice a week, and all students receive the opportunity to act in every class. Renowned for its intensive and innovative program titled The Actors’ Boot Camp®, the Los Angeles conservatory offers a follow-up course, The Actors’ Boot Camp® II. While some experienced actors may join The Acting Corps through one of the more advanced programs, the staff recommends beginning with The Actors’ Boot Camp®. The program consists of four weeks of intensive, daily classes designed to help actors determine whether acting is truly their calling. Auditioning actors can also enroll in The Advanced Program while The Professional Program caters to international and U.S. students who want a longer commitment.
