Saving hundreds of dollars on electricity - that's the power of solar. When Secretary Granholm met SunPower customers Yvonne and Ferdinand Santos, she was floored to learn how much they were saving on a monthly basis by living in their net-zero, solar-powered home. The Santos' are not alone; many SunPower customers across the country have found incredible savings by switching to solar.
The energy bill-reducing, clean energy future is here in Menifee, CA. The Santos family used to have a $500-$1,000 monthly electric bill. Now, in their net-zero home, they get monthly credit from their local utility company for the power generated by their solar panels.

At SunPower we believe everyone should have access to clean energy benefits. Yesterday the EPA announced the recipients of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction National Clean Investment Fund and Clean Communities Investment Accelerator. We’re excited to see these programs launch and help more Americans make the switch to clean energy - especially those in low income and historically disadvantaged communities. Congratulations to everyone who worked to get these programs greenlit! This year, as we commemorate two decades of building community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy, we would like to celebrate our partnership of 18 years with SunPower Corporation. ☀ SunPower Corporation has partnered with GRID Alternatives since 2006. Our partnership has continued to expand yearly, with increased investment in GRID's work. In 2024, we are taking our partnership to new heights with SunPower's investment in the development of GRID’s Mission Aligned Contractor Network (MACN). Over the past twenty years, GRID Alternatives has successfully implemented over 91 megawatts of solar projects for more than 31,000 income-qualified families across the nation, providing an estimated total lifetime energy cost savings of $711 million and providing hands-on solar training to over 33,600 individuals. Today, GRID is a leading voice in low-income solar policy and the nation’s largest nonprofit solar installer. Our impact extends beyond borders, reaching families across the nation, as well as communities across Nepal, Nicaragua, and Mexico. 🌍 As we celebrate this momentous milestone, we want to give a special shout-out to the partnerships that make our impact possible. We extend heartfelt gratitude to our long-time partner, SunPower Corporation. Our vision of an equitable transition to clean energy that includes everyone is made possible by the continued support and collaboration with our partners and community. Thank you, SunPower! ⚡

We’re proud to work with women-owned businesses like Air Sun Solar. Anne E. Hayden founded Air Sun Solar in Visalia, California to help change the way our world is powered. Air Sun Solar helps homeowners who have a mutual interest in the environment; she believes we all can live and thrive alongside it. “It's the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do,” says Hayden. “When you can help people save money while simultaneously helping generations to come - why wouldn’t you want to be part of such a great industry?” Hayden hopes other women are inspired by Air Sun Solar and consider joining the solar industry. “Some people say there is no opportunity for women in this industry. They only see boundaries and glass ceilings. But if we spend all our time focusing on how to break the glass ceiling, we’re not actually picking up the sledgehammer and doing it. It’s okay to go all in and be afraid. You’ll find out that on the other side of fear is gratitude. Gratitude for everyone who’s worked alongside you, for those that paved the way, and for everyone picking up sledgehammers and doing the hard things.” #womenshistorymonth

This Women’s History Month we are celebrating the women behind SunPower solar. We are proud to work with women-founded solar businesses like California Renewable Energy Program, founded by Angelica Amaya. Amaya was inspired to help homeowners in her area find a more efficient and affordable way to power their homes. Since its inception in 2018, California Renewable Energy has helped over 4,800 homeowners go solar. “I work with some of the most talented and amazing individuals in our community including several women in leadership roles here at California Renewable Energy," said Amaya. "It’s been exciting to see women rise up and join this more male dominated industry, including our Director of Solar Operations, Alicia Flood, and our Chief Marketing Officer, Dani Gibson.”

SunPower is proud to partner with Woodside Homes and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to offer a free solar system for St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway - one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude nationwide. Thanks to generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, so they can focus on helping their child live. The St. Jude Dream Home will feature a SunPower solar system designed to offset all the energy the home will use, which can make the home more affordable to operate. SunPower VP of New Home Sales Matt Brost appeared on ABC10's Your California Life to talk about the solar-powered Dream Home, watch the clip linked in the comments to learn more!
