Every fall, our experts see a dramatic increase in school-age youth with severe mental health symptoms due to delayed care in the summer. But in reality, summer can actually be one of the best times for youth to focus on their mental health. From shorter waitlists to minimal schedule disruption, summer can be the most accessible and impactful time for young people to start mental health programming. The best part? They can build the skills and confidence to start, and continue, the school year strong. Today is National Bike to Work Day, and in preparation, Todd Archbold, CEO, and John Ryan, PrairieCare’s General Counsel, got to work turning up everyone’s bikes! Todd and John are passionate cyclists who want to share their joy of riding with fellow PrairieCare employees. Last week, at two sites, they worked to tune up employee bikes to ensure they could enjoy the spring weather on their bikes. Thank you to Todd and Ryan for all the tune-ups, and here’s to a lovely spring ahead. #BikeToWorkDay #MentalWellness #MentalHealth #CopingSkills #HealthyHabits

Last night, our team was honored to accept the Community Impact Award by Twin Cities Business for the Mental Health Collaboration Hub (MHCH)! As one of ten Impact Award winners, we are part of a powerful group of change-makers in the Twin Cities. The MHCH is a web-based platform designed to find appropriate treatment or housing for youth in boarding situations, such as in an emergency room. Today, over 200 youth have connected to treatment with the help of over 430 professionals from 180 organizations. Thanks to the MHCH community, the wait time for treatment has been reduced by 55% in the last six months. Congratulations to our wonderful team, which supports the Mental Health Collaboration Hub, and our community partners, who are coming together to connect youth to the treatment they need. A big congrats to our fellow winners as well! The last thing someone experiencing mental health challenges needs is further trauma. To address racial and identity-demeaning incidents between patients, PrairieCare’s DEIB Advisory Council created ICARE training for staff. The training was rolled out at all levels of care to guide staff when verbal comments are made by one patient, deprecating the identity of another patient. Through the expert lens of Asfia Qaadir, DO, Austen Edman, an Education Specialist, and Emily Pathirana, a Patient Experience Advisor, the ICARE training has become one part of the puzzle in creating a healing environment that is welcoming to all. Learn about ICARE and hear from our team how it has helped their ability to support patients: https://ow.ly/Enqe50RGhhI #TeamTraining #RacialHarm #DEIB #EquitableCare #MentalHealthAccess
