Happy National Supply Chain Day! I’m a distribution guy! – more specifically, your go-to distribution guy at FinditParts. I’ve spent the last 17 years navigating the complex world of supply chain, moving parts (everything from industrial supplies, to passenger vehicle tires, to large heavy-duty truck parts) from one part of the world to another. And now, I’ve been doing it for FinditParts for a year now, steering our supply chain operations with one goal in mind: getting you the parts you need, no sweat. Now, if you ask me what gets me up in the morning, it’s the thrill of problem-solving. There’s something about diving into a challenge with my team, rolling up our sleeves, and finding that sweet spot solution that keeps the gears turning smoothly. It’s the kind of fun that makes you forget you’re working. In terms of the most interesting and challenging parts of my job, Mother Nature takes the bait. Anyone who has worked in supply chain can relate to an order being delayed or late because Mother Nature just didn’t want to cooperate! Planning for (and dealing with) macro-level factors that are outside of our control is just another day in supply chain. It’s about staying a step ahead and always being ready to pivot. Hello everyone, Bill here!   Just taking a moment to share a bit about my journey and the wild, rewarding world of supply chain management. First off, I’m a proud vet of the United States Marine Corps, served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. It’s been a wild ride since then, with 32 years now tucked under my belt working in the supply chain. Currently, I’m with FinditParts as an Operations Coordinator. I enjoy the connections I’m making in the industry. Building relationships with partners and customers, solving puzzles no one else can, and getting our customers their products fast, with quality that impresses them. There’s nothing like seeing the plan come together and knowing you played a part in that smile on the customer’s face. Now, the road’s not always smooth. It’s like living permanently on the tips of your toes, with product shortages, recalls, and the weirdest surprises. Two stories from my time in supply chain: There was a great mouthpiece heist at a band camp once. Luckily for us, I was able to contact a friend at Vandelay Industries who was able to overnight us the product thus saving the summer concert! With a little bit of supply chain creativity and some help from my pals at Vandelay Industries, we turned a potential summer bummer into a standing ovation. And then there was a hailstorm. Thirty vehicles had sustain hail damage at an upfit facility which put us in extreme jeopardy of not meeting our delivery date to the client. We didn’t panic. We rolled up our sleeves, found another facility to fast-track the build of another 30 similar vehicles, and boom – delivered ahead of schedule. In supply chain, it’s all about thinking on your feet, leveraging those partnerships, and making the best happen for our customers. Whether it’s dodging hail storms or navigating the everyday challenges, I’m here to ensure we deliver not just parts, but peace of mind and satisfaction.Thanks for letting me share my story. I am a born Midwesterner currently residing in New York City and I work in Supply Chain! I proudly serve as the Operations Manager for Supply Chain at @FinditParts. Today, on National Supply Chain Day, I wanted to share a bit of my journey and the world of supply chain management that I’m privileged to be a part of. With about a year and a half into the supply chain industry at FinditParts, and a diverse background ranging from a fulfillment supervisor to a freight broker, and even an inventory manager, my career has been an entire list of roles that deeply immersed me in the intricacies of the supply chain. Each position taught me the invaluable lesson that every link in the chain is pivotal. The most rewarding aspect of working in supply chain? It’s the constant challenges. The thrill of navigating through a labyrinth of unique problems and the satisfaction of solving them fuels my passion. Supply chain is a dynamic, ever-evolving field that requires quick thinking and the ability to pivot strategy at a moment’s notice – and I live for it!
