June's School Message Image

June's School Message

Dear BCMCS Community,

There are a number of historic and famous figures born in June, from Presidents Bush [41] and Trump, to historical figures Frank Lloyd Wright and Elon Musk, to musical talents Prince and Adriana Grande. A famous person with a Montessori connection born this month is Erik Erikson, an American child psychoanalyst known for his theories on psychosocial development. He earned his certificate from the Maria Montessori School prior to embarking on his professional career. Erikson’s best-known work is his theory that each stage of life is associated with a specific psychological ‘struggle,’ a struggle that contributes to a major aspect of personality.

We can relate to struggles this time of the year, as we are in the midst of a whirlwind of end of year events, with last week's Walk-A-Thon raising over $3,700 for the JDRF Foundation ... way to go BCMCS! Please be sure to follow the school’s calendar, as all remaining end of year events from the 6th Year Play to Field day to Graduation are soon approaching. And even with all that is transpiring now, we are putting the finishing touches on next year’s student rosters, the finalization of which will determine our class structures, staffing, etc. -- these will be made public sometime in July. With current student projections, we believe that we will continue with a configuration similar to this year, with a single Kindergarten, three (3) LE classrooms, and four (4) UE classrooms. Staffing changes, if made, should be minimal as we anticipate our entire personnel to return for the upcoming school year, with the only changes being that of certain staff assignments.

Finally, it is at the end of the school year that the efforts of our volunteers most reveal themselves. I would like to express huge thanks to all of those who volunteered or helped the school in any way: especially to Mrs. Haas for her efforts with everything PTO; as well as Mrs. Serrano, Mrs. Matyi, Mrs. DeRose and Mrs. Toska for all their assistance with the plethora of school events and activities from graduation to staff appreciation to yearbook. Our school relies upon parents to add to our unique school programs. Without the variety of support efforts of each one of these individuals, we would not have been able to offer the students the multitude of opportunities that we have.

Be sure to follow our website throughout the summer, as, again, we will periodically post updates for next year. Take care, enjoy your summers, and until next time …    ~ Mr. Brian Long
