Home is where your story begins.

Mine starts in a sunny, vibrant city in the San Joaquin Valley, California. Birds sang, children swam, popsicles melted. Early years were full of excitement, though I hardly remember the small apartment we lived in. Home to me was more than that. Like, the tall apartment gates, which didn’t keep people out so much as form the boundaries of endless games of hide n’ seek, or the more questionable, ‘Who can slip though before getting smooshed?’

When I got a little older, we moved to a home in the majestic Pacific Northwest. Sure, the winters were longer, and ice storms meant power outages and weekends spent shoveling the driveway. But most of all I remember the snowball fights, sledding down golf course driving ranges and summers spent lying by the lake.
