Some people may feel pain when they have hemorrhoids that are on the outside of their bodies. Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum, like varicose veins. They are also called piles.

If you have symptoms of internal hemorrhoids, you might see blood on the toilet paper, in your stool, or in the toilet bowl. This is because hemorrhoids are inside your body. In this case, these are signs that there has been bleeding in the rectal area.
