Distillate is a versatile type of cannabis concentrate that is most often used as a base in cannabis edibles and vape carts due to its potency and purity. Quite simply, distillate is activated cannabinoids with no flavor compounds, no aromatic compounds and no inorganic byproducts from plant material and is commonly a runny translucent oil devoid of the waxes or undesirable compounds from the original plant.

The name distillate refers to the cannabis purification process that removes and separates the cannabinoids such as THC or CBDinto unique products. Considered one of the most purest and potent forms of concentrate due to the fact that it has been stripped of all lipids, fats and any plant material - what is left is the purest form of the THC, CBD, CBG etc - no plant material interferes with the high you will get if a simple high is what you desire.

How Is Distillate Created?

Distillate is created by a process of manufacturing called fractional distillation - one that removes all of the plant impurities and in which the final product has been systematically stripped of all materials and compounds except one specific cannabinoid and lacks any taste, flavor or aroma - which is commonly known as the “entourage effect” in resin or rosin concentrates.

Taste and aroma is not the goal in distillate concentrate as mentioned above but the benefit of having the natural terpenes removed is being able to have complete control over the final product’s taste and smell.

How High Can You Get From Distillate?

Whether distillate gets you high really depends on the actual cannabinoid you are consuming - THC or CBD. Because the impurities have been removed and everything else except the THC - the potency is incredible. For that reason a THC based distillate will get you very very high whereas a CBD distillate will tap into more therapeutic benefits and not get you high as CBD will not produce the intoxicating effects.

In today's market, you can easily find vape pens that contain pure distillate oil. These products feature a cartridge filled with THC distillate, a heating element, and a battery that powers the heating element. As with any vape pen, the heating element vaporizes the oil inside the cartridge, and the vapor is then inhaled through the mouthpiece.

Because it contains such a potent form of extract, these vape pens tend to be very strong and proceed with caution if you are new to distillate - remember, the THC content is very high at 85-90%. Inhale a small amount first, wait 30 minutes to feel the effects and then inhale if the desired effects have not been achieved.
