Even a compact cordless washer produces a focused stream of water that deserves respect. Follow these tips to protect yourself, your family and your property.

Wear eye protection. Spray can bounce debris back at you.

Wear closed shoes. Never spray near bare feet.

Never point the nozzle at people or animals — not even as a joke.

Keep children away from the work area and store the tool out of reach.

Avoid outlets, light fittings and wiring. Water and electricity don't mix.

Charge batteries indoors and dry. Never charge a wet battery.

Start wide and far. Begin with the fan pattern at a distance and move closer only if needed.

Test a hidden spot first on soft wood, painted surfaces and old mortar.

Avoid spraying directly into window seals, door gaps, vents and car engine electrics.

Use clean water. Keep the inlet filter in place to stop sand and grit reaching the pump.

Store dry and frost-free. Empty water from the gun after use and store the battery at room temperature.
