Before 12 years ago, Teance began as a passion project among friends in Berkeley, California, USA with the goal of providing a context for our customers to experience the finest teas especially Dragonwell green tea in the world. We wanted to build a space to bridge gap between the ancient and long-refined tea culture of the Easten countries and tastes of the West, through traditional tea service, education, and storytelling.

The mission of Teance is to provide the best artisanal teas of Asia to Americans, to support & encourage the master tea farmers who produce these, and provide an introduction to the authentic traditions and cultures from which tea comes.

Over the course of the last 10 years, Teance has become the East Bay's premier destination for the direct trade, highest quality, single origin teas. Our humble tea house expanded to a retail store & tea bar, artfully designed to complement our unique selection and skillful tea service. As the possibilities provided by Internet grew, we realized we were capable of offering these excellent tea to those who appreciate them, not only in California, not only around the United States, but across the globe.

Today, we are making a name for ourself as pioneers in seasonal, single origin Fresh Green tea, both in our tea shop, and across the web. We believe the fullest expression of each unique Premium Oolong tea lies at the nexus of tradition, seasonality, and craft. It is our mission to share these amazing teas with our valued customers, and continue to provide the cultural and historical context behind them through in depth artisan producer profiles, detailed product information, and continuing education.
