This remote ranch setting, far from modern distractions, is the ideal environment for struggling teens to begin a new and positive direction in their lives. Our unique residential program helps young men ages 12 to 18 recognize their full potential and make a lasting positive change.
The program at our troubled teen ranch is based on accountability and responsibility incorporating the fundamentals of a 12 step program for low self-esteem. The program includes fully accredited academics, communication courses, one-on-one counseling, and mentorship.
Turning D Ranch is a leader in this industry. Our principal owners each have over 10 years of hands-on experience and have been involved in defining the state regulatory process since Montana began regulation. We have been sitting members on the board of Private Alternative Adolescent Residential Programs (PAARP) which is the board that regulates programs in Montana. We continue to be involved by attending board meetings and have direct input on current and upcoming policies and procedures.

Our staff
At Turning D Ranch, we feel our greatest asset is our diverse and highly qualified staff. Our staff members include a sitting judge, a teacher with 19 years experience in the public school system, a local fireman, a professional Carpenter and professional Horseman. In addition to our two staff members who are E.M.T. certified, all staff are Emergency First-Aid trained. Each resident gets assigned a one-on-one mentorship with one of these qualified and commited individuals.
Our team is looking forward to serving you and your family in this most difficult time of your life as you search for a solution to help your son. Our staff has the experience, compassion and desire to help your troubled teenage boy engage in a new and more positive direction. It is our goal to make the world a better place by reaching out to struggling teens and their families and making them whole again.
In addition to our amazing staff, Turning D Ranch for boys has the opportunity to bring in some amazing external resources. In just such a case, we have the honor and privilage of having our dear friend Karate Grand Master David Smith work with the young men here. David started his training in 1971 at 12 years old and became a black belt September 11, 1976 at the ripe old age of 17. In 1997, he attained the level of Grand Master. In 2000, he was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame by The International Marshal Arts Council (IMAC). To name just a few of Grand Master Smith's accomplishments, he has won the USA Nationals, a Double Grand Championship in The West Coast Regionals and Grand Championship at the USA Coca Cola Nationals. Grand Master Smith has worked extensively with the young men at Turning D Ranch over the years specializing in the areas of Respect and Self-Discipline.

The goal here at the ranch is to empower each individual to take responsibility for their past and challenge them to be accountable for their present and future. Through this supportive and caring process, we help residents reclaim their lives and obtain the tools to create a brighter, happier, and more productive future for themselves and those around them.
