    I am thrilled to announce that once again, Playpower Labs has made it to the final round of the Learning Engineering Tools Competition! This time, we are a finalist in the Learning Science track for our tool "ReSource" that aims to enable teacher-led experimentation in digital learning environments. The "ReSource" concept has been developed by Derek Lomas. Together, we have been doing Learning Engineering research for over a decade. Experimentation is a core aspect of the Learning Engineering process. Field trials are more expensive compared to digital experiments, and with more students online than ever, digital learning experiments are now a viable and valid way to improve the efficacy of learning technology. Often times, educators also run experiments in their classrooms when they are trying multiple approaches to see what works. But we don't learn generalizable knowledge from these small experiments because the process does not have all of the randomization and data collection elements. "ReSource" tool is designed to enable educators to run experiments in digital environments that generate generalizable evidence of the efficacy of their approaches. Using ReSource, teachers will be able to create experiments that compare efficacy of various digital learning resources. The experimental 'resource links' will present randomized content to the viewers, and measure the efficacy of different conditions through pre-post tests. The links to experimental resources can be shared on any digital platform, whatsapp group, or google classroom. As students interact with the digital experiment links, experiment creators see the data on how different conditions compare. ReSource tool will be powered by UpGrade, a mature open-source A/B testing tool for education. UpGrade provides support for several experimental designs, condition assignment algorithms, support for grouped experiments, user segmentation, and also feature flags.     AI for learning assessment: selected proposals Based on our mapping, we are selecting AI platforms or tools for learning assessment. We may feature them in the international conference on AI and education we are planning for May/June 2024. Dugga Digital Assessment: is an exam platform created together with teachers, students and administrators, funded by the Swedish Innovation Agency Vinnova. The assessment platform uses generative AI to help generate exams, quizzes and lessons to the benefit of teachers and students. It has been used by 500,000 students in 4,500 schools. https://lnkd.in/e_PwWfCA   Quill’s Reading for Evidence: a formative assessment tool that uses predictive AI to support the acquisition of literacy skills for students in grades 4 through 12.
