  • 7 easy steps on How To Stack Necklaces! Stacking necklaces has become a staple trend in the world of fashion. It can offer a fun and stylish way to accessorize any outfit. But how do they do it? Do they own several necklaces, each slightly longer than the next? The truth is, the art to creating a perfectly layered look that is both stylish and effortless, lies in how you use what you have. If you have ever wondered how to achieve that ideal stacked necklace look, fear not — it’s easier than you think! Here is your simple seven-step guide to stacking like a pro: 1) Select Your Necklaces: The key to a successful stacked necklace ensemble is choosing the right pieces to layer. Start by selecting a statement necklace that will serve as your centerpiece. This could be a squash blossom necklace, a bold pendant, a chunky turquoise necklace, or any necklace that you want to build your look around. Then add necklaces which compliment the main piece. 2) Arrange by Length: Once you have your centerpiece, gather the other necklaces you want to incorporate into your stack. Arrange them by length, with the shortest necklace being the one closest to your neck and the longest being the outer layer. 3) Hooking Technique: Here's where the magic happens. Instead of fastening the closures of your necklaces directly behind your neck (in the eye of the closure), employ a clever hooking technique to create a seamless stacked effect. For necklaces with beads or stones, look for spaces between the beads or links where you can hook the closure of the necklace. This allows each necklace to lay comfortably inside the other, creating a visually appealing layered look, even though some of the necklaces may not be the ideal length. 4) Layering Order: Start with your centerpiece necklace and then layer the shorter necklaces inside it, hooking their closures between the beads or links. Continue this process with each successive necklace, ensuring that each one sits neatly inside the others. The extra beads or stones will lay on the back of your neck, hidden underneath your hair or shirt. 5) Adjust + Refine: Once you've hooked all your necklaces together, take a moment to adjust and refine the stack. Make sure each necklace lays smoothly and evenly, and adjust the lengths as needed to achieve the desired layered effect. Don't be afraid to experiment with different combinations and arrangements until you find that perfect balance. 6) Final Touches: To complete your stacked necklace look, add any additional embellishments or accessories that complement your look. This could include earrings, bracelets, rings or a concho belt that matches your aesthetic. 7) Considerations: The hooking technique is a simple and effective way to stack necklaces, but it's important to ensure that your necklaces are strung on durable wires or chains. This can help prevent damage or breakage, especially if you're wearing multiple necklaces throughout the day. Bobbi Jeen Olson ©2024

  • Today, let's explore a hobby that, while immensely rewarding, might seem daunting to some. Collecting antique firearms.   Many potential collectors hesitate because they feel overwhelmed by the apparent expertise and established community already in place. They wonder, "How can I start my collection if I'm not already knowledgeable or connected?" It’s a common misconception that you need to be an expert from the start to enjoy collecting. Just as everyone starts from the beginning and gradually improves, many renowned collectors began with little more than an interest and a single piece to call their own. Here are ten compelling reasons we love collecting antique firearms: 1) Historical Significance: Antique firearms offer a tangible connection to moments in history, allowing collectors to actually hold pieces that witnessed significant events. 2) Connection to Personal History: For some collectors, certain antique firearms hold personal significance. Emotional connections are often one of the strongest. 3) Investment Potential: Antique firearms often appreciate over time, making them a potentially lucrative investment opportunity for collectors who possess knowledge of market trends and the value of historical significance. 4) Artistic Value: Many antique firearms are intricately designed and ornate, representing the artistic mastery of their time periods. This is something everyone can appreciate and it helps to add aesthetic appeal to any collection. 5) Educational Experience: Studying antique firearms provides an educational journey into the evolution of weaponry, manufacturing techniques, and even military strategies. 6) Cultural Heritage: Collecting antique firearms preserves our heritage by safeguarding artifacts that reflect the craftsmanship, technology, and traditions of those who came before us. 7) Unique Experience: Unlike most contemporary firearms, antique weapons are very limited items. Each has its own distinctive story, making the search a unique and rewarding experience for collectors. 8) Community and Camaraderie: Collecting antique firearms fosters a sense of community among enthusiasts who share a passion for history, craftsmanship, and preserving heritage. This provides opportunities for making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. 9) Preserving a Legacy: By collecting and maintaining antique firearms, collectors contribute to the preservation of historical artifacts for future generations, ensuring the legacy of the past endures. 10) Hobby and Enjoyment: Above all, collecting antique firearms should be a fulfilling hobby that brings joy and satisfaction to enthusiasts. Whether you appreciate the workmanship or historical significance of these timeless artifacts, there is something for everyone to enjoy. 11) Bonus: You can still shoot many of them!   Embrace each stage of collecting. Enjoy the journey as you gain knowledge and travel upwards to the next level.
