On March 24, 1996, the TAPAN Board met and adopted a resolution to change the name of the organization from the Texas Association of Post Anesthesia Nurses to the Texas Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses.
In 2009, the TAPAN Board undertook the task of redrawing the district lines in order to better meet the needs of the membership. The resulting 5 regions are:
North & East Texas
Upper Gulf Coast
Hill Country and South Texas
West Texas and Panhandle
Far West Texas
in 2019, the TAPAN Board made the decision to officially deactivate the Far West Texas Region and the members were welcomed into the West Texas and Panhandle Region.
