Matthew is the Ist American physicist to be Newton Fellow in the Royal Society, an institution re-founded in 1662 by King Charles II.

As Lawrence scholar at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Matthew created fusion theories, helping lay the foundation for commercial laser fusion systems.

He founded and led Noble Artificial Intelligence, a science start-up based in San Francisco, raising more than $35 million.

With his leadership, Noble flourished from idea to robust organization, assembling a Microsoft agreement and accepting significant investments from M12 – Microsoft's Venture Capital Fund, Chevron Technology Ventures, Stanford's endowment, and others. Today its CEO is ex-Intel and its Board has experience at Motorola, VMWare and Microsoft.
Matthew has invested in numerous startups including Brex, H2O.ai and Rippling.
He led or co-led the History working group within the Global Young Academy for four years.

An alumnus of Wolfson College, Oxford, UCLA, and Rice University, he has held affiliations with Stanford and brings scientific expertise, entrepreneurial capability, and deep-seated ancient values to advanced energy investing.

William H. Goldstein served as the 12th Director of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and president of Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC, for 7 years. During his tenure, the Laboratory advanced two critical nuclear warhead life extension programs; acquired the exascale-capable El Capitan supercomputer, and made major progress toward laser-fusion ignition on the National Ignition Facility. He also oversaw the successful construction of the High-Repetition-Rate Advanced Petawatt Laser System (HAPLS) - the world’s most advanced and highest average power diode-pumped laser, and the publication of “Getting to Neutral,” a groundbreaking study of how California could achieve carbon neutrality.
Before his stint as director, William served as the deputy director for science and technology at LLNL, where he led the strategic deployment of the Laboratory's science and technology capabilities, including collaborative research with academia and private industry.
William joined LLNL in 1985, after obtaining a PhD in theoretical physics from Columbia University, and a post-doc at Stanford. His work at LLNL on radiative processes in heavy element plasmas had significant impact on programs in inertial confinement fusion, x-ray lasers, and nuclear weapons.

Roger W. Falcone is a Professor of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and is an affiliated faculty member of Berkeley's Energy and Resources Group and Applied Science and Technology Program. He received his A.B. in Physics from Princeton and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford, and was the Marvin Chodorow Fellow in Applied Physics at Stanford. He has served as Chair of the Berkeley Physics Department, Director of the Advanced Light Source x-ray synchrotron facility at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and President of the American Physical Society.
Falcone is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and is a fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and The Optical Society. He currently serves on a number of national and international scientific and technical advisory committees.

Evan Behrens is currently the Managing Member of B Capital Advisors LLC, an investment firm. Hugh Powell was educated at Eton, Oxford (Balliol), and Harvard (Kennedy School of Government). Like his father Charles (PM Margaret Thatcher’s National Security Adviser) and uncle Jonathan (PM Blair’s Chief of Staff), Hugh joined the UK Foreign Office. In his early career he worked on the Soviet Union, served in the Paris and Berlin Embassies, worked in the EU Department on the new treaty negotiations, and was on the Policy Planning Staff, where he originated the “responsibility to protect” initiative at the UN.
From 2003, Hugh increasingly specialized in national security issues: he was the first diplomat to do the UK military’s top Higher Command and Staff course, followed by a stint on loan to the Ministry of Defence in charge of their Department for International Organizations (NATO, EU, UN). He then ran Security Policy Dept in the Foreign Office, where i.a he co-led the Government’s renewal of the UK nuclear deterrent. Next Hugh was appointed as the lead co-ordinator (“UK Senior Representative in Southern Afghanistan”) of UK counter-insurgency efforts at a time when Helmand was the epicentre of the conflict in 2008-9, where he also ran in Lashkar Gah a joint civil-military team including US as well as UK, Danish, Swedish and Estonian forces.
