Message from Executive Director

For 37 years, The Prevention Team has been a vital part of Essex County, working tirelessly to foster healthier, safer, and more resilient communities by proactively addressing issues before they escalate into more significant problems such as addiction, violence, chronic disease, suicide, overdose and injury. Our work often requires a combination of research, survey analysis, and data collection through community engagement & a spirit to challenge generational stigma and trauma.

Through the Bureau of Prevention & Problem Gambling under Prevention | Office of Addiction Services and Supports (ny.gov), we are equipped NO MATTER YOUR AGE to tackle life’s challenges together. Our culturally humble team is ready to facilitate evidence informed conversations that draw upon empowerment strategies, harm reduction education tools and recovery initiatives that give people the confidence to live their lives as authentically and fully as possible.

In Gratitude,

Traci Ploufe
