The Shevchenko Scientific Society in the Context of Ukrainian Intellectual History: 150th Anniversary Conference
Marking 150 years of the Shevchenko Scientific Society, this conference features three panels with scholars from the US, Ukraine, Canada, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, and Austria. Speakers will discuss the history of the Society’s establishment, the contexts of its activity, and its influence on Ukrainian intellectual and cultural life from its founding to the present day.
The conference takes place on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 9:00AM to 7:00PM at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York City. Join in person or online via Zoom webinar. Attendance is free, but registration is required.
Shevchenko Emergency Fund
The Shevchenko Emergency Fund, will be used to support scholars, writers, and artists who have been affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine. Funds raised will support the creation of residential and non-residential fellowships.

Joint Statement on Russia’s War Against Ukraine
We condemn the decision by the President of Russia to invade Ukraine. Unarmed civilian populations in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa and other cities across Ukraine are currently under attack in what is the largest military operation in Europe since the end of World War II. We are shocked and appalled by this unprovoked war of aggression. Read more
