Sara’s philosophy in therapy is that she believes humility and authenticity are at the core of life successes and encourages clients to challenge their perspective while reaching for a higher level of existence. Sara is inclusive to all human beings regardless of who they are, or what they are going through, and approaches all presenting life situations with an open mind.
About Sara
Sara received her Master’s of Science (MS) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas at Dallas and completed the last year of her degree at Johns Hopkins University. She is currently licensed in the state of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and specializes in helping relationships. She is an active member of the Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association (IMHCA) and the Illinois Counseling Association (ICA).
Experience
Sara has prior therapy experience in Texas and Maryland, where she worked in various community mental health clinics serving every background and presenting issue. After moving to Illinois, Sara worked for private practices in Chicago, serving mostly couples and relationships before starting her own couples therapy clinic. She has completed Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 trainings in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Therapeutic Approach
Utilizing eclectic approaches including evidenced-based Gottman techniques and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) concepts, Sara helps relationships by fostering communication, managing conflict, and rebuilding the foundations of friendship that are vital to the success of any union. Being an integrative therapist, she will meet the needs of the couple/relationship by employing any necessary theoretical techniques or approaches to help clients reach their goals.
