Thank you, School Nurses and Child Nutrition

Thank you to the many people who serve in our district nurses’ offices and cafeterias. You care for us, inside and out. The school cafeteria is where wholesome meals and friendly faces are a daily source of joy. You understand that hunger stands in the way of a child’s education. Thank you for making it your collective mission to care for our students.

Our school nurses go above and beyond; from bumps and bruises to daily care, school nurses step up and provide unparalleled leadership and guidance. You are a source of comfort and encouragement to all our students. We are all grateful for your service and compassion.

Reminder on Immunization Requirements

The following message was sent via ParentSquare to incoming 7th-grade families:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Tennessee state law requires that your student have a booster dose of the tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis vaccine (known as TDAP) to be admitted into the 7th grade next school year. This requirement must be documented on the official Tennessee Certificate of Immunization form. Out-of-state records are not acceptable except for active Military or National Guard records.

Please make arrangements with your healthcare provider, the Health Department, or an immunization partner for your child to receive this new immunization before the first day of the 2024-2025 school year.

Per state law, no child can be permitted to attend any public school until proof of immunization is presented. If your student qualifies for a Medical or Religious Exemption, documentation must be provided. We ask families to please make arrangements before the first day of school. Please see our admission policy and Religious Exemption form on the district website (HEA-F092).
