Municipal Election Nomination Papers

Nomination papers will be available for the November 5, 2024, Municipal Election beginning July 28, 2024, at the City Clerk’s Office in the municipal building located at 25 High Street in Caribou. The deadline to return the nomination papers is before 4:30 p.m. on September 6, 2024.

The following seats are available:
Two 3-year term seats – City Council
One 3-year term seat – Eastern Aroostook RSU #39 Board
One 3-year term seat – Jefferson Cary Memorial Hospital Fund

Anyone striving to hold an elective city position must be a registered voter in Caribou and must have nomination papers signed by at least twenty-five other registered Caribou voters.

The Caribou City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers located at City Hall, 25, High Street

The public hearing is in consideration of an application for: Malt Liquor, Wine & Spirits sales for Spud Speedway Inc located at 209 Thompson Road.

Information regarding the public hearings will be available on the City’s website at www.cariboumaine.org and in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 25 High Street.

The Caribou Housing Authority will be holding a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers located at City Hall, 25 High Street, Caribou, ME.
The proposed Administration Plan and Action plan is available for review at www.caribouhousing.org or at the Housing Authority’s office located

Heavy Truck Operator/ Laborer

Employment-Application

$22.86 through $23.71

The City of Caribou is accepting applications for a full-time Truck Driver/Laborer. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; experience or trade certification in heavy truck operation or similar field; and a minimum of a Class-B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes. Compliance with federally mandated drug screening for CDL holders is required by law.

Brush Removal

Brush removal for 2024 will be limited to one pick up period during May 06th – 09th

All brush and leaves must be curbside by the morning of May 06th by 6:00 am.

Public Works will only make a single pass through a neighborhood.

Pick up is limited to one load per residence.

  Those in rural Caribou must call Public Works to let them know to pick up.

Please call 493-4211.

Any brush or leaves at curbside after May 09th will not be removed by Public Works. The City asks for your cooperation to make this removal program as cost effective and beneficial as possible for the continued maintenance of our community.

The City of Caribou hereby announces its proposed Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Participation Goal of 1.56% for FAA-Funded Contracts/ Agreements. Access Points Project

The Aroostook Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is currently seeking volunteers to serve on the steering committee for their new Access Points project!

Through this project, Access Point locations of AAA (headquartered in Presque Isle) will be established throughout Aroostook County. They will bridge our County communities to AAA services that improve quality of life and create pathways to wellness for aging residents!
