Yours in Christ,

Fr. Michael Coveyou

New School Principal

June 5, 2024

Dear St. Ann School Family and Parishioners,

After a comprehensive search and interview process, it is with great excitement that we announce Mr. Lee Pittman has been offered and has accepted the position of principal at St. Ann Catholic School. His duties in this capacity begin July 1, 2024.

Mr. Pittman’s educational preparation includes a Bachelor of Science degree in education from N. C. State University and a Master’s degree from Gardner-Webb University. Over the past 18 years he has taught both middle school science and high school earth and environmental science in the public school system. He has also had the opportunity to serve on various school leadership teams. His wife is also a teacher in the public school system.

As a cradle Catholic, Mr. Pittman has dedicated himself to being involved in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lumberton, N. C. He and his wife continue to grow and share their faith not only with their children, but also with the rest of the faithful in their parish. They have been involved in the RCIA program and the marriage prep program. Additionally, they have served as faith formation catechists and have taught confirmation classes. Mr. Pittman is also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Pittman is nostranger to St. Ann Catholic School as all his school age children attend our school. As the father of young children, he brings a vital perspective to the principal’s position. He understands the needs of young families and the importance of collaboration between faculty, staff and parents. His love for children and families as well as his commitment to lifelong learning was apparent during the interview process. We are fortunate to have a collaborative leader to build on the legacy of our school.

I am grateful to the search committee for their time, dedication and expertise. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Pittman on this appointment and welcoming him to St. Ann Catholic School in his new role.

Sincerely,

Fr. Mike
