Welcome to Peninsula TownshipThe Old Mission Peninsula is perhaps Michigan's most unique and scenic township. Unlike the typical six-mile by six-mile-square township, the Old Mission Peninsula is finger-like in shape, projecting approximately 16 miles into Grand Traverse Bay. The township varies from one to three miles in width and encompasses approximately 42 miles of Great Lakes shoreline. Peninsula Township was founded February 3, 1853. The 2020 U.S. Census lists a population of 6,068.

Request for Letters of Interest for the Agricultural Advisory CommitteeThe Peninsula Township Board is seeking letters of interest to serve on a new committee we are calling the Agricultural Advisory Committee. This is a standing committee that will advise the board on matters related to production agriculture within Peninsula Township. Appointees will serve three-year terms. The committee will meet every other month, or a minimum of six times per year. The board is looking for a diverse group of nine (9) agricultural operators to serve on this committee. This is an opportunity for local farmers to have a voice and for staff and the board to learn about the issues facing our farmers so that we can be nimble about updating the zoning ordinance and policies to better support agriculture on the peninsula.
