Hi! My name is Barbie Decker. I’m a 40-year old ex-professor turned Independent Team Beachbody Coach living in Dallas, Texas. My purpose in life is to help people see that anything is possible, as long as they believe and are willing to take action steps towards the fulfillment of their goals. I believe that happiness in life starts with health. When we feel good in our bodies, when we are healthy and fit, we often also find the motivation and energy to bring about positive change in other areas of our lives.
At 33, I had just been through the wringer of life: a divorce, my father’s death, the completion of my doctoral studies, and a move to a new city where I knew no one. My body showed the signs of neglect on the outside in the form of extra pounds and a fatigued look. On the inside, I felt fat and ugly. After many failed attempts to lose weight, I had begun to tell myself the story that maybe this was how I was supposed to feel and look at 33. Then one day I bumped into my ex-husband and his girlfriend, who had lost a significant amount of weight and looked great! Whatever she had done to lose the weight and get fit had worked and I wanted to know the secret! She had done P90X. The girlfriend was living proof that these videos from the infomercials worked. Seeing her results was all I needed to help me believe that it would work for me, too!
I wound up starting my journey with another Beachbody program: Slim in 6. In six weeks, I lost 11 lbs, 4 inches off my waist, and perhaps most importantly, I regained my self-confidence and really, my enthusiasm for life! I was so excited about my results that I wanted to share about Beachbody with everyone and anyone who would listen and who was struggling to lose weight.
I became a coach days after completing Slim in 6, not because I was looking for a career change (I had just begun my new career as a professor), but because I simply wanted to help people. It wasn’t until I had been coaching for about 8 months that I began to notice that other fellow Beachbody coaches were earning a six-figure income doing exactly what I was doing: helping others. One day I asked myself the same question I had asked when starting Slim in 6, “Why not me?” Why couldn’t I also earn a six or even seven-figure income doing something I love? With that question came the feeling and then the certitude that I could and that I would do it, too!
Fast forward to today. I have made my dream a reality. I went from feeling uncomfortable in my own skin to being fit and loving myself as I am and from having to put my groceries on my credit card to make ends meet (despite my salary as a professional) to making seven figures yearly. I am debt-free, travel often for leisure, am in an amazing relationship, create my own schedule, and am making a difference in so many lives. My time as a Beachbody Coach is devoted to helping my customers achieve their fitness goals using Beachbody products as well as to helping the members of my coaching team build and grow their own home-based business. My team, The Empire, currently has over 17,000 members, several Million Dollar Earner Club Members, multiple Star Diamond/Diamond leaders, 4 Top Coaches, multiple Elite Coaches, numerous Success Club “Hall of Fame” members, several cast members of P90X2 & TurboFire, & many winners in Beachbody’s Physical Transformation contests. Various EMPIRE coaches can also be seen in Beachbody infomercials as well.
