03/26/2015 My seven years as a Beachbody coach have afforded me the opportunity
to gain a bird’s eye view of what makes a successful coach, as well as
what makes for an unsuccessful one. Whether you’re a coach looking to be
successful in the business or you’re considering becoming a coach, this
tip sheet will guide you in your journey. Use it as a checklist. If you
can say that you do each of these things, you will be much more likely
to succeed. If you are honest with yourself and admit that not all of
these apply to you, this is good news! It simply means you have an area
or areas to work on.
Are you ready? Here are your 10 Tips for Success as a Beachbody Coach:
1. Coaches who succeed take 100% responsibility for their success or failure.
This means that they don’t wait for their sponsor to make them
successful. They don’t blame others (including their coaches, their
spouses, or customers) or the lack Beachbody coach training. If they are
to succeed, successful coaches understand that it’s up to them, despite
any life obstacles that may come their way.
2. Coaches who succeed are engaged. They engage with their
team in private groups, by listening to team calls, by actively
participating in Beachbody coach training, and by connecting with other
positive-minded members. They also engage with the Team Beachbody
network by listening to the weekly National Wake Up Call, by
participating in events such as Super Saturday or Team Cup Challenges.
Unsuccessful coaches go at it alone; thus they feel alone. If you feel
alone as a coach, remember, it is by choice. Make a commitment to engage
and stay engaged. Together we are stronger.
3. Coaches who succeed not only make personal development a part
of their daily routine and Beachbody coach training, they also apply
what they learn. Unsuccessful Coaches are either inconsistent with
their personal development practice or if they are consistent, they
don’t apply what they learn. The result is wasted time and frustration. A
consistent routine of personal development buffers you from the
obstacles and discouraging moments you will encounter in your journey as
a Beachbody coach and in life.
4. Coaches who succeed see failure as an opportunity to learn and grow.
They ask themselves such questions as, “What can I learn from this
experience?, ”“How can I improve upon this?”, “What can I do differently
going forward?” Unsuccessful Coaches are quick to claim defeat, to
blame the system or the Beachbody coach training, others, or themselves.
For example, the might say, “This system or Beachbody coach training
may work for others, but it doesn’t work for me.” Instead, they would do
good to ask themselves, “What feedback is this experience giving me so
that I may grow from it? or “Who can I ask for feedback regarding my
approach?” Remember: every experience is an opportunity to grow.
5. Coaches who succeed look at successful coaches as a way to get inspired, to deepen their belief, and to learn from them.
They also ask themselves, “If they did it, why not me?” Coaches who
don’t succeed use others’ success as a ruler against which to measure
their own shortcomings and to affirm their self-limiting beliefs.
Whether you choose to get inspired or feel defeated when you look at
other successful coaches or people in general is entirely up to you!
6. Coaches who succeed understand that being a successful coach is about empowering others, not only themselves.
To build a successful team and to be a great coach or mentor, the focus
has to be on helping others reach their goals. Coaches who don’t
succeed never learn this lesson. Zig Ziglar said: “You can get
everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people
get what they want.” If you want to succeed, focus on truly helping
others. You’ll find that is where not only the fortune lies, but also
where fulfillment lies.
7. Coaches who succeed do whatever it takes to find the time to work their business and to engage in their Beachbody coach training.
If their schedule is packed with work and/or family obligations, they
are willing to get up earlier and stay up later to work their Beachbody
business. They understand that they must sacrifice now in order to reap
the rewards later. Unsuccessful coaches blame lack of time as the reason
as to why they do not do the Beachbody coach training and why they are
not successful.
8. Coaches who succeed are consistent in their business activities, yes, even when life gets tough.
Inconvenient and sometimes painful life interruptions happen to
everyone. We or people & pets we love get sick, the car gets broken
into, the house gets flooded, you name it, something will always come
up. Coaches who succeed understand this. While their Beachbody coach
training and activities may have to slow down during certain periods,
those who succeed don’t stop working their business. They make sure to
stick to the fundamental activities in their business, always
remembering or reminding themselves of their larger purpose for wanting
to work the business. Coaches who don’t succeed have a stop and go
approach. They work, often furiously, when life feels balanced and
steady, but stop working their business whenever something happens to
interrupt their flow. As such, they are never able to gain the full
momentum required to grow and keep growing.
9. Coaches who succeed have a vision of what they want and set clear goals.
How can you succeed at something if you don’t know what you’re going
after? Bill Copeland said, “The trouble with not having a goal is that
you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.”
Without a clear vision of why you want to be successful as a Beachbody
coach, it’s easy to let life’s circumstances derail you and it’s easy to
spend lots of time being busy but not being productive. Get clear on
what you want (the type of life you want to lead & the kind of
person you want to be) and why you want it. Once you have that clarity,
set goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and
timely (S.M.A.R.T.).
10. Coaches who succeed exhibit unwavering commitment. Coaches
who succeed come to a point where they make a decision that they are
going to succeed and when they make this decision, they do. If a coach
is wishy-washy about his/her future success or whether she’ll stick
around as a coach in a year or two, chances are she won’t. Coaches who
succeed remove “I’ll try” or “I’ll give it a shot” from their
vocabulary. They replace such terms with “I will” and “I must.” When
something goes wrong, such as an order gets messed up or one of their
team members decides to quit, those who succeed don’t let these matters,
big or small, defeat them or derail. “Decide. Commit. Suceed.”
